Red Wing Shoes has been manufacturing this type of durable boot for over a century, primarily for army officials and those employed in field jobs. However, in recent years this aged brand has branched into mainstream markets. Through collaborations with established brands such as J. Crew and Ronnie Feig, Red Wing has become fashionable in modern terms.

Street wear and Runway have picked up on the appeal “the working man” boot can emit when paired with an outfit and are running with it. They give the man wearing them an edge; a toughness that he may have not possessed prior to putting them on. And what female doesn’t want a man with an edge?! NONE! ..lol..

The new Red Wing Fall/Winter 2009 Rugged Collection is a modern version of the original boots created in the 1950′s. However, it would take much pounding pavement to get that rough look. So Red Wing is manufacturing them to appear to have been worked in for decades; each boot unique from the next.

“Weird” is a common title placed upon the Rick Owens Collections and Lifestyle. I was always aware of his creations but never looked further into their purpose. Rick Owens, some may differ, is not a mainstream designer. His target market is a unique bunch; consisting of individuals that dont dress for the appeal of the clothes but merely its architectural function. I always blurt out “minimalistic goth” when I look at his collections, however, they’re a direct reflection of their creator; Rick Owens. Clean lines, sharp edges, architectural silhouettes, and simplicity are the focus within each garment. He is a man of mystery and pours that into his designs. As always feeling a need to categorize designers and their styles, I’ve come to a road block with Rick Owens. I think its safe to conclude that in the U.S., his designs are: a step above pret-a-porter, close to high fashion, and not far below haute couture. I’m fascinated with his work, *thanks to a great friend of mine, and agree with the notion of leaving Rick Owens in his own category for the time being. There are many designers that feed off of his adolescent grunge styling, but none compare to the raw talent he emits in his work.

Known for their collaborative designs, Limoland has teamed up with two reputable outerwear brands for their 2009 Fall/Winter Collection. Both available at www.rumors.jp

The first present is a collaboration with Crescent Down Works. This down-filled/nylon parka is a guaranteed attention-getter; with its vibrant muliti-color blocked panels.

The second jacket is the Kasson- style by way of Penfield. The features on this jacket includes a wool exterior with contrasting color details and a plaid/nylon interior lining.
